The Incredible Life of John McCain.

On October 26, 1967, when John McCain was shot down over Vietnam I had been home from Vietnam for less than two months and had only been out of a hospital at Valley Forge, PA (Valley Forge General Hospital, now the Valley Forge VA) for several weeks. I remember seeing this event (John shot down over North Vietnam) on the news like it happened yesterday. I had been wounded in battle against the North Vietnamese Army on June 26th, 1967 and had spent a considerable time waiting in a jungle on the Cambodia border assuming I would be captured by the Vietnamese, and tortured. I had been wounded at close range with an AK-47 and totally paralyzed on the right side. I knew what would happen to me if I was captured alive.

Unlike John, I was lucky in that I was eventually medivac'ed out of the jungle and flew to a MASH like hospital outside of Saigon. The military doctors and nurses there saved my life. John was not so lucky. Because of what I experienced I know why having a strong belief in God and Country helped to keep me alive. It helped me to survive. I have only met John McCain once, while he was visiting a VA hospital I worked at. That was years ago. But I know beyond a shadow of doubt that he has what it takes to be the President and Commander-in Chief. What happened to me was miniscule compared to what John and the others like him suffered in that prison. When he refused to go home early because the 'code' said that first captured, first to leave, hre made a decision that I do not believe I could have made.

To paraphrase John's mother, I feel sorry for all the other candidates in this election, as no one else is as qualified to be the Commander-in-Chief. Please watch this video, your comments are welcome.
