John Matyi has actively promoted a conservative perspective since 1968 when he registered with the Republican Party in his home state of Connecticut.
John graduated cum laude from Southern Connecticut State University with a BS in 1985, and then from Fordham University in NYC with a Masters of Social Work graduate degree (MSW) in
1986.
He served in the US Army with the infantry in Vietnam (199th Separate Light Infantry Brigade, 4th/12) where he was wounded and awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star ("V" device), and the Combat
Infantry Badge in 1967.
John had decided to eventually move to the South while he was stationed in Georgia and Mississippi for military training. After graduating from Southern Connecticut State University he began his
career with the Department of Veterans Affairs (1985). In 1986 he moved to Alabama where he continued with the VA in Birmingham (Psychiatry-Mental health Clinic).
He retired from Government service in 2004 and continues to reside in Alabaster, Alabama with his wife Dorothy of 41 years along with his German Shepherds Cheyenne and Maximus. He has two daughters and
four grandchildren
Even in the conservative "Bible Belt" he found that Liberal ideas were attempting to establish a foothold and he continues to fight radical socialist ideas disguised as the platform of many "Liberal
politicians."
In 2003 he began his volunteer efforts as a Grass Roots team leader to help reelect George W. Bush. Raised as a Catholic, although no longer able to be active in church services, his Christian beliefs are still very strong

China Syndrome: Now it's Baby Food from China [again]. If you have a baby, know a baby, or use formula; Please read this.
[Update] The number of babies who have been diagnosed with kidney stones due to the banned chemical melamine has reached 430, there has been one death.
[John K. Matyi] The real China syndrome today deals with products manufactured in China, or products manufactured here that use ingredients from China. It's not about Nuclear plants blowing up. On the news this morning it was reported that 50 babies had been diagnosed with kidney stones (common with melamine, the cats and dogs that died had complete kidney failure). they had consumed baby formula tainted with melamine. If you read nothing else in this post read this:
The official Xinhua news agency cited Zhao Xinchao, the vice mayor of Shijiazhuang in Hebei province, where Sanlu is based, as saying that police have already questioned 78 people, including dairy farmers and milk dealers. The police suspect that some of them may have diluted milk with water so as to increase the total volume for sale to Sanlu, and then added melamine to disguise the dilution, Mr. Zhao told the news agency.
Remember melamine? Remember last year when cats and dogs all over the US were getting sick due to wheat gluten from China, used in the manufacturing of pet foods, that had been 'tainted' with a chemical to falsely indicate a higher protein level? That's the same chemical.
I saw this reported on the Fox and Friends show this morning about six AM. I immediately called my daughter to find out what formula she was using. She gave me the name and I made some calls. She was buying a product at Wal-Mart that was manufactured by PBM Products, Georgia, VT. I called the manufacturing plant and they gave me the phone number for their corporate offices. I talked to a very nice woman there who informed me that they were being inundated with phone calls on this issue. She was able to assure me that all of their products were manufactured in the US. I can assure you that my daughter was relieved to hear this. If you buy your formula from Wal-Marts this may be the same formula. If it is not from this company I suggest you call the manufacturer and find out if they either use ingredients from China or they manufacture there.
You can read more about this on the links from this posting, or just Google "Formula and China" for more information.
HONG KONG — China’s health ministry announced on Friday a nationwide probe into the safety of all infant formulas, as a team of investigators from six government agencies descended on the milk powder factory that produced formula now linked to one baby’s death and kidney problems in at least 50 more.
The producer of the suspect formula, the Sanlu Group, recalled 700 tons of its formula after determining on Thursday that it had been contaminated with melamine, an industrial chemical.
