The Obama Action Wire: A military-like attempt to stifle free speech? You decide.
[John K. Matyi] Today has been such a news heavy day for the presidential campaigns it has been difficult to decide where to start. I assume by now you have heard that Governor Palin's Yahoo email account was hacked and her emails, children's pictures, Bristol's (17 y/o daughter) cell phone number were all published, and more. But is this just the tip of the iceberg?
The Chicago Tribune reports that there is a lot more going on:
Much of Barack Obama's political success can be traced to a database listing contact information for millions of people, a tool that has proved invaluable in raising record sums of money and organizing a national volunteer network.
Now Obama's presidential campaign is increasingly using the list to beat back media messages it does not like, calling on supporters to flood radio and television stations when those opposed to him run anti-Obama ads or appear on talk shows.
It did so as recently as Monday night, when it orchestrated a massive stream of complaints on the phone lines of Tribune Co.-owned WGN-AM in Chicago when the radio station hosted author David Freddoso, who has written a controversial book about the Illinois Democrat.
The latest use of the database, called the Obama Action Wire, is proving yet another new and potentially powerful tactic in the closing weeks of a campaign that has already been dominated by Internet-based messages and media.
[John K. Matyi] So is the "Obama Action Wire" legal? I have no idea. Is it moral or ethical? Not no but Hell no! So just what is going on here? Let's look at Obama's tactics. If you are using the Internet, a blog, a radio station, television station, or any type of mass media to state your opinion, which happens to be different than that of Barack Obama, he will use this huge "world-wide" data base to alert his army to action. Your website or blog will be unavailable due to too many hits, your email account will shut down (or hacked) as it will be overloaded, if your interview is on a call-in program their telephone lines will be unavailable for dialog as they will be overloaded.
The latest use of the database, called the Obama Action Wire, is proving yet another new and potentially powerful tactic in the closing weeks of a campaign that has already been dominated by Internet-based messages and media.The aggressive rebuttals are very much informed by Obama's determination to avoid being victimized by the sort of attacks leveled against Sen. John Kerry, the 2004 Democratic presidential nominee stung by TV ads run by a group called Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.
"The Action Wire serves as a means of arming our supporters with the facts to take on those who spread lies about Barack Obama and respond forcefully with the truth, whether it's an author passing off fiction as biography, a Web site spreading baseless conspiracy theories or a TV station airing an ad that makes demonstrably false claims," said Obama spokesman Ben LaBolt.
[John K. Matyi] The Obama campaign says that this is a means of "arming our supporters with the facts to take on those who spread lies about Barack Obama." Now they claim this is no different than the sort of attacks leveled against John Kerry in the 2004 election. The so-called Swift Boat attack however were a series of ads and interviews by military service members who had actually served with John Kerry in Vietnam and who disputed his claims not only for his service record, but were also disputing his claims of US Military atrocities that Kerry had claimed were common place and that he claimed to have personally witnessed.
There was never an attempt by this group of veterans to squash the message of John Kerry with fascist-like attacks against the media. Or an attempt to stop radio and television stations from interviewing anyone with a different viewpoint. They just wanted to let the people know their opinion of John Kerry was different than John Kerry's opinion of himself.
Let me leave you with a statement [and a video] from Ed Martin, president of American Issues Project" If Barack Obama demonstrates this little regard for free speech from his opponents during the campaign, what could the American people expect from him as a president?"
Will the actions of Obama supporters spell doom for his historical bid for the presidency? Or will they become the deciding factor in the information war between the two parties. Ask me in January, as I don't think we will have an answer in November 2008. But that is an other story being played out by the likes of ASSOCIATION OF COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS FOR REFORM NOW (ACORN).

The reason Obama does this is due to him being all smoke and mirrors. He has no substance. I don't even believe he is a U.S. Citizen for he has not been vetted by the whole Congress as McCain was when there was a question about his birth certificate and citizenship.
Until Obama does that I don't care even if he does get elected, I won't listen to him and if anyone from the government comes to my door to cause problems they will have to bury them.

Thanks for your comment. I think you bring up even a bigger issue in that, as you point out, Obama has not been properly vetted, certainly not by the press. This is not the first time though, it took the brave soldiers/sailors of the Swift Boat crews to highlight the lies and fabrications from John Kerry. I guess that was a warning. Now anyone who says anything that Obama does not like, faces a law suit. We will discuss that more in a future editorial.
