[Update 9-20-2008, 11:49AM] Is Iran now ready to attack Israel: Daily Telegraph reporting that Iran has surreptitiously removed a sufficient amount of uranium from its nuclear production facility in Isfahan to produce six nuclear bombs!

IAEA shows photos alleging Iran worked on missile
VIENNA (AFP) — The UN nuclear watchdog has shown its members documents and photographs suggesting that Iran secretly tried to modify a missile cone to carry a nuclear bomb, diplomats said.
Diplomats who attended a special briefing Tuesday said the IAEA's head of inspections in the Middle East, Herman Naeckerts, had shown them new proof indicating that Iran tried to refit the long-distance Shahab-3 missile to carry a nuclear payload.
The US envoy to the IAEA, Gregory Schulte, said Naeckerts showed photos and diagrams of Iranian work on re-designing a Shabab-3 "to carry what would appear to be a nuclear weapon.

There have been some who have predicted (in our country) that Israel may be pressured to attack Iran before the November elections as they fear that an Obama presidency would not be a strong ally and they would not have the US support necessary to stay alive in an all out war with Iran. Why is it that Iran may have "surreptitiously removed a sufficient amount of uranium from its nuclear production facility in Isfahan to produce six nuclear bombs" and we are just now hearing about it? Not newsworthy for the New York Times I guess.
Let me now present the key paragraphs from this article in an effort for us to better understand the impact of what may be going through the minds of both the new government in Israel and the US even as we speak:
[Emphasis is mine] Today, there is only one way to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. Israel must bomb Iran's nuclear installations. Such an Israeli strike will not end Iran's nuclear program. It will not overthrow the regime. It will not cripple Iran's economy. It will not end Iran's active support for international terrorist groups.
All an Israeli air strike against Iran's nuclear facilities will do is set Iran's nuclear program back for a couple of years. Such a strike will buy Israel and the rest of the world time. And during that time, Iran will no doubt expand its diplomatic, terror and political offensives against Israel and the US. But if Israel and the US are wise, they can use the time as well.
It is time to act, By Caroline B. Glick
http://www.JewishWorldReview.com | Iran is just a heartbeat away from the A-bomb. Last Friday the Daily Telegraph reported Iran has surreptitiously removed a sufficient amount of uranium from its nuclear production facility in Isfahan to produce six nuclear bombs. Given Iran's already acknowledged uranium enrichment capabilities, the Telegraph's report indicates that Iran is now in the late stages of assembling nuclear bombs. It would be a simple matter for Iran to assemble those bombs without anyone noticing. US spy satellites recently discovered what the US believes are covert nuclear facilities in Iran. The mullocracy has not disclosed these sites to the UN's International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which is charged with inspecting Iran's nuclear sites.
As to the IAEA, this week it presented its latest report on Iran's nuclear program to its board members in Vienna. The IAEA's report claimed that Iran has taken steps to enable its Shihab-3 ballistic missiles to carry nuclear warheads. With their range of 1,300 kilometers, Shihab-3 missiles are capable of reaching Israel and other countries throughout the region.

The obvious question here is what impact will all of this new information have on our election process. With the economy issues we are experiencing there is non-partisan demand for Congress not to take a vacation, but Nancy Pelosi is already threatening to close shop and go home. Are we headed toward a major conflict with Iran that will make the war in Iraq look like a footnote in history? We may soon know.
Along with Sarah Palin I will be praying for the safety of all our troops in harm's way. But now I will be adding Israel to this list. There is evil in this world and we may soon know just how evil some leaders really are.

Ahmadinejad: Israel won't survive in any shape or form

[John K. Matyi] With the economy on the front page it is unlikely that any of this news will come to the forefront. As I write this Obama is live on my TV trying to look presidential. As long as he was reading from the teleprompter he looked pretty good (as usual). But when he then started answering questions he got lost in his verbiage. He was asked good questions by Fox News, he decided, however, to talk in circles with talking points. You can tell he was quite nervous as he made several gaffs, stuttered, and the "Yo" came quickly back into his talking point vocabulary.Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad lashed out again at Israel on Thursday, saying that it won't survive in any shape or form.
Speaking to reporters, the hard-line leader smirked at a former mantra of the Israeli right of a Greater Israel that would include Palestinian territories. The idea has since been abandoned, with Israeli consensus now that there will be a Palestinian state alongside Israel.
Earlier this week, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said that the idea of a Greater Israel, which includes the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, is a thing of the past, and that anyone who still thinks in this way is delusional.

Ahmadinejad said that "while some say the idea of Greater Israel has expired, I say the idea of a Lesser Israel has expired, too." >

The rest of the country, we only get to watch the ads that end with "Tell’em Billy sentcha [sic]" and the various ads for “ED” (you figure out what 'ED' stands for). We could spend the next hour-or-two just discussing the ads them self, but that is not why I am writing this. Because this is how the presidential election process ... -

[John K. Matyi] This is an ongoing story, sorry if it gets a little disjointed. As I am writing and editing this article there was a Fox News flash that the European Union (EU) has announced that it believes that Iran is now only six months from testing an A-Bomb. Also from Fox, "there are some signs that North Korea may be just days from reactivating it's Nuclear reactor." I searched Google but there is still nothing listed for either of these on the net. If you read the candidates quotes below you can see what that the major ... -
