My letter to my Senators: As your constituent, I urge you to reject H.R.1, the so-called "Stimulus" bill. The 'compromise', far from improving the bill is actually even worse than the original
[John K. Matyi] I sent this to the Senators in Alabama today. I'm not sure how much good this will do as both have already expressed concern for this bill and will probably not vote for it anyway. We can usually count on both of them to do the 'RIGHT' thing. (pun intended) Please send this to the politicians in your state. This is not a Republican or Democratic thing; it is an American issue.

Sorry to bother you again as I know you are really busy. As your constituent, I urge you to reject H.R.1, the so-called "Stimulus" bill. The 'compromise', far from improving the bill is actually even worse than the original. As you may remember, I was also against TARP (a lot of good that did). Instead of providing real tax cuts that would return money to the taxpayer who could spend it to give the economy a real boost, the latest bill actually reduces the meager, temporary tax credits in the bills passed by the House and Senate. Those "shovel-ready" highway projects we heard about are a tiny portion of this bill. Instead we see billions to expand existing bureaucratic programs, $300 million for federal employee company cars, $165 million for fish hatcheries and dozens of other pet projects that do nothing to stimulate the economy. Then there are the hidden provision to create a health board—given the fancy name of Comparative Effective Research Council—which could set the stage for a health rationing board long advocated by the man who was to be the nation's health "Czar," Tom Daschle, and provisions that allow the states to weaken work requirements in the 1996 Welfare Reform bill. I guess this is what the Democrats call "Progressive." As you know, the vote on this bill also violates the pledge by congressional leaders to allow 48 hours (I doubt that this bill could be properly read in 48 days!) after publication of the bill before a vote. Please vote "NO" on the conference report on H.R.1, the "Stimulus" bill. By the way, I will be adding this information on my blog as I want all of my readers to know that this bill is an attack on the American way of life and must be stopped. I hope there will also be a good number of 'Blue-Dog Democrats who realize that this money has to come from somwhere, and if passed our grand children will be paying for this for many years. |
| Sincerely, |
| John K. Matyi |
