Sunday Morning Observations of Fox & Friends: Starting with the Obama HealthCare nightmare

[John K. Matyi]  I have been watching Fox and Friends on this bright Sunday morning, and there have been lots about healthcare this morning. So far in the Obama bills being considered...If passed:

  1. Catholic (and many private hospitals) Hospitals will be closed as it would take away federal funding if they refused to do abortions (and other non ethical practices according to religious beliefs).
  2. CBO says their bills will not save any money at all (as in none), adds 1 trillion to budget. Now Obama is saying that he never said it would save money.
  3. The House bill refers to mentally or intellectually disabled children as "Mentally Retarded" on page 389. I guess they didn't plan on anyone reading it (over 1000 pages). I think this shows an underlying problem with the people who are writing this bill. Very radical thinkers.
  4. The former president of the AMA said that "The AMA made a mistake sponsoring the bill." He also pointed out that less than 20% of doctors belong to the AMA. Most of them are medical students who really have no organization other that the AMA. As they progress in their medical career they they have specialty care organizations who reall do represent them and their interests.
  5. Younger people will have considerably higher premium cost than older people as they use 20% of health care services and their plan will not be age adjusted so they will pay 50%
  6. My thinking, this bill has nothing to do with Healthcare, it is all about another power grab for the government. Imagine (one of the provisions) having a "end of life counselor) come to your house at age 65 to go over your options on dying to release more care for the young.

I listened to a woman yesterday (on the way to your house) on the radio whose mother at 105 recently had a pacemaker installed. She has her hair and nails done every week and loves to shop. One doctor told her she was too old so she went to another doctor (not allowed in the Obama bill) who told her she was "spunky" and did the procedure immediately.
  7. Obama keeps saying it is the Republicans who are against "Health Insurance Reform," (notice the change in language —  it must be 1984!), but in reality it is the 50+ "Blue Dog" Democrats that are holding back. They know they will be thrown out in 2010 if they vote for the bill.
  8. A note worth adding. According to the Rasmussen Reports (7/25/2009) Obama's Overall Approval has dropped below 50% for the first time:

    Overall Approval        49%
    Strongly Approve        30%
    Strongly Disapprove    39%

    Maybe better times are coming.
  9. Dick Morris tells us that the Obama Health Care plan is not much different from the Hillary plan from the Clinton years. They both contain rationing of health Care. Hillary care was killed by middle-class people who feared that they would lose their insurance coverage, but the Obama plan will be sunk by older people who fear (rightfully so) that they will lose their medical care.
I believe if you want the government to come between you and your doctor, this is the plan for you. Just don't figure this will be free. If you are on Medicare you will also be losing medical options from your plan. Having some bureaucrat telling me I'm too old (or too fat, or you smoke, etc.) would be fighting words for me.
